Mediterranean Cruise Travelcade - May 2009
In order to offer you the best possible travelcade we have altered our original itinerary and now will be taking a 10 day Mediterranean Cruise on Holland American's, MS Noordam. Our travelcade will begin on May 26, 2009, with a three day visit to Rome. Vantage Deluxe Travel will again organize our flights and all the details of our 15 day travelcade. We will return to the US on June 9, 2009.
While in Rome we will have a panoramic city tour and can tour the Vatican as well as a "Rome by Night" excursion. Following our stay in Rome we will travel by motorcoach to the port city of Civitavecchia, Italy where we will board our Holland American Cruise Line for its 10 Day "Roman Empire" tour of the Mediterranean Sea. Our first day will be spent sailing the Mediterranean, with all the ship's amenities at our disposal. Our next day port of call will be in Dubrovnik, Croatia. There will be optional tours in each of our ports of call, or you can walk the streets and enjoy the cities at your leisure. (This is our preference; to really get a "taste" of the culture.) Our ship's next three days will have all day ports of call on three Greek Islands: the "Emerald Isle" of Corfu; Olympia, the site of the original Olympic Stadium and the Temple of Zeus; and the beautiful island of Santorini, Greece in the turquoise Aegean Sea. Then it's on to the port city of Kusadasi, near Ephesus, Turkey; both wonderful resort towns with many restored sites. It's then back to Athens, Greece, and the port city of Piraeus. In Athens we will see the Acropolis and their Olympic Stadium. We again have a day of rest at sea with many onboard activities as we journey to beautiful Messina, Sicily, where Richard the Lionhearted worshipped en route to the Crusade in 1190. The following day we return to Civitavecchia, near Rome, Italy and our return home on June 9, 2009.
Being on a larger cruise liner especially in the usually tranquil Adriatic and Aegean Seas should give us a beautiful and calm cruise. There will be excellent meals aboard ship, something Holland American Cruise Line is known for, as well as outstanding entertainment and activities aboard ship.
The discount price that Vantage Travel has arranged for our group begins at $4199 per person (double occupancy) for an inside cabin on the ship and $4569 or up, for an outside cabin. (This is a very large saving.) This price includes the stay in Rome plus air fare from the New York City area.
The above price is available now, and may not be available for long. In early July this cruise is being advertised nation wide and the tour may fill up fast.
