If you are thinking of attending the San Antonio Rendezvous Diane is planning a roving rally from Benson Arizona to San Antonio Texas. Visits to Tombstone, Queen Mine tour in Bisbee AZ are planned. Our next stop will be in Fabens TX at the Cattlemen’s Restaurant. If you have never enjoyed a meal at this Restaurant you will have a lasting memory of this wonderful location. The best part is RV parking is free. The final stop will be at “The Caverns of Sonora” in Sonora Texas. If you want to join us on this Roving Rally, any part or all the way to San Antonio TX just e-mail for additional information. This is the first of two Arizona Unit fall rallies. The second Rally is the joint venture with the California Unit in Borrego Springs October 24 to 27.

Our summer rains are continuing and the roads are dotted with splashes of color through out the Southwest. There are several shades of poppies varying from an apricot color to crimson. The last of the cacti species are now blooming.

October Critter Report: This is quite a report as we have been visited by a host of wild life. The first and foremost visitor is Jennifer, a grand daughter of Roberta; stopped by with her three cubs. These three cubs promptly proceeded to frolic and play in the yard, first up the tree then jumping and pouncing on each other. The next fun object they found would be the sprinklers, as the water came on they would take turns jumping and chewing on the water system. Now as evening approached each kitten took to the tree thus spending the night out of harms way. We were entertained for almost two weeks, then as quickly as they appeared, they were gone. As I mentioned to Diane we have spent untold money or rodent bait attempting to hold the pack rat population at bay when all we needed to do was hire a Bob Cat. During the two week stay our rodent population reached a manageable scale.

Almost as soon as the cats left two Coyote’s arrived and while they did not remain long, we enjoyed their short visit. Another notable visitor is a “Harris Hawk” I think the word of mouth must be out dine at the Ernest’s as all of these creatures dine on rodents. Our bird population is ever increasing and most are putting on a few extra grams in preparation for the southern fall departure.

The CA Unit has been busy, both on the road and staying at home this summer. We’re looking forward to our Fall Rally in Borrego Springs Oct. 24-29. Many of us have never been to the Anza/Borrego Desert, so it will be something new for us. We have a “full house” of 23 RV’s coming.

Jim & Carol Davis took a vacation to visit Carol's Mom and 3 of their kids in ID, WA & OR. They did real camping in Astoria, OR with campfires and the beach and some of the group in tents. Had all the salmon, oysters and crab they could eat. They stopped by Mike & Kathy Sexton's in Yuba City on the way home to see the venue for the 2010 rendezvous and discuss some plans.

Ray & Rae Ruana have stayed close to home all summer. They had a new deck put on the house, went to Marilyn Miller's birthday party at South Lake Tahoe and the California State Fair. They are going to Arizona for about three weeks in the Flagstaff, Sedona and Yuma areas prior to the Fall Rally so afterwards they can head straight for home in time to vote.

Harvey & Mary Plunkett survived the summer heat and are getting ready to head for San Antonio, TX for Harvey's Fall Rendezvous and then home for a few days and off to Borrego Springs for the Fall Rally.

Richard & Dawn Ibarra enclosed a copy of an article that was in their local newspaper (Ventura County Star) about the loss of their 2004 Fleetwood Pace Arrow (35G) due to a roadside fire. Both the RV and their 1998 Honda CRV were declared as total losses. Of all of the personal contents in the RV, about 95% of the items were a complete loss, including two laptops. In the CRV, about 50% of the personal contents were a complete loss. The fire started in the tow vehicle and quickly spread to the motor home. We all sympathize, but are so grateful that both Rich & Dawn and their dog made it safely out.

Diane & George Lane just returned from an 18 day adventure in Istanbul to Athens. They did the first 4 days on our own in Turkey then boarded their favorite cruise line, Oceania, and cruised the Mediterranean to Athens. They had a wonderful time but wished they were in our RV instead.

Floyd & Gale Hubert have moved to the high desert. They purchased a new home and rented the old one. It’s lots of work but much pleasure, and they are looking forward to their travels coming up to the Texas Rendezvous, pre-visit at the Fall Rally and then a cruise with Gale’s father and family.

The news from the Miller household is sparse. Mayo got his electric wheelchair the end of July and has been "driving" ever since. So far he has knocked over the mail box (up here in snow country mail boxes are in a bucket of gravel so they can be moved around to accommodate the mail man), he has creased the front of the trash compactor, put grooves in a kitchen cabinet, moved the furniture, and "crashed" into the beauty shop rearranging a few items. However he is enjoying being able to go where he wants, when he wants. He is driving again and that's a good thing. Marilyn continues to attend Curves, progress is slow but hey, it's progress. Tahoe weather has been beautiful, warm sunny days and nice cold nights, just right for sleeping. “All in all, life is good, God is great and we are thankful for all we have.” Marilyn

Janie Gustafson writes: “My life stays very full with all that goes on in a large family and those things absorb my time, energies and attention. Encouraging news from all quarters in that department doesn't mean that there aren't abundant challenges as well. Some of those challenges are very tough ones but I'm proud of the work I see the family tackling. God is good. Great-grands number 18 and 19 joined the family a few weeks ago by way of adoption! That branch of the family is in Indiana. I haven't gotten to see all our great grands yet, needless to say.

This summer a family work party descended upon the house to do some major repairs on the chimney and tore down about a third of it and rebuilt it. Beautiful! Now I dare have fires in the fireplace in the winter. Both daughters and their husbands came and two of our sons helped, too. A huge amount of fun, though so many of our number couldn't make it. So much to be thankful for!!

Trips: I'd hoped to go to the Grand Canyon National Park (South Rim) this month to visit the cemetery (Gus's markers are there) and walk over the places where some of us scattered his ashes and just soak up the joys of that beautiful place he loved so much. Then I wanted to head for Nevada to see family members and then make it back for the Fall Rally. Various complications set in so I didn't get to go. So what else is new? But I'm counting on having a great time with old friends at the Fall Rally, then afterward at least getting to see other family members in Hemet and Anaheim. Maybe in the spring I can make the other trip before our family gathering at Yosemite in June.

Even though I've been an inactive Ham since Gus passed away, I renewed my Amateur Radio license. Important stuff to hams!”

See you all in Borrego Springs,

Kathy

John & Audrey Gilbert spent the summer in Boonville, NY. John has taken up growing potatoes and his potatoes are so large that he needs a back hoe to dig them and a 10 gallon pail to carry just one potato. They purchased a smoker and are having a great time cooking ribs. In fact the neighbors, (a raccoon) also loves ribs. He/she now opens the refrigerator and takes a rack of ribs along with a box of English Muffins. John decided to set a trap and caught a skunk instead. You’ll have to ask John for the rest of the story.

Bob & Pat Bradford, Leo & Linda Woodward and Chuck & Fran Blanchet had an absolutely fantastic time at Homosassa Springs, FL for a summer getaway.

Bill & Chris Catron, along with Charles & Jenova Hoelscher started the summer in WV, and then toured the Maritimes for 5 weeks. Bill & Chris will not be able to attend the Fall Rendezvous as they need to have their coach repaired at the factory.

Jim & Joyce Saxon are still working in Jacksonville, FL and not sure when they can get away. We are all looking forward to the Rolling Rally on the way to San Antonio for the Fall Rendezvous and the Florida Fall Rally at Bushnell, FL.

Our Illinois Unit has had two rallies since the last newsletter. A Buddy Rally was held in LaSalle at Hickory Hallow Campground. Members in attendance were Ralph Burcar, Shirley Clark, Carmans, Collinses, Davises, Jayneses, McKinnons, Patricks (buddies of the McKinnons,) Russells, Sorensens, Spencers and Wagners. Thanks to Ralph Burcar and Shirley Clark for getting the campground and tours. A number of the group went to Starved Rock and hiked to the top of Lovers Leap and the Lock and Dam overlook.

Our State Rally was held in Rantoul, the old Air Force Base. It was a great facility with full hookups. Bert & Norma Shafer were organizers for this rally. Thanks for a job well done. There were 16 member units in attendance including Shirley Clark, Ralph Burcar, Carmans, Davises, Foremans, Jayneses, McKinnons, Ron Shumaker/Nancy Bruns, Peters, Russells, Shafers, Spencers, Sorensens, Wagners, Wellses and the Weithorns. We had a number of tours including a taxidermy facility, a backyard of artsy structures and an apple orchard, where we had a demonstration of how apple cider is made. Some of the women went to the Generations of Hope Facility. What a great community effort! Byron Peters and his crew are appreciated for all of the great food they produce.

Nora Peters left the rally to have a cast put on her foot, so she has to keep off of her feet, which we all know is going to be difficult for her. It was good to see Stan & Doris Carman come for a short stay with us. Good news from the Fowlers; we can celebrate that they have both retired and will be with us next year at our fun, food and fellowship rallies. We look forward to having them back.

New officers were installed at this time: They include Wayne Spencer, as President and Ellen Spencer as Secretary/Treasurer, Hank & Addie Weast as 1st Vice President and Dick & Jane Russell as 2nd Vice President. The IL Unit will have their Holiday Party November 15th at the Alexander Restaurant in Normal at 4:30 pm.

The Indiana Unit had our Fall Rally September 9-12 at Franklin County Fairgrounds in Brookville, Indiana. Our gracious wagon-masters were John & Rita McCarren. Thanks! In attendance were, Albert & Bobbie Bailitz, Larry & Phyllis Bousman, Lewis & Mary Carter, Loretta Fleming, Lenore Gilly, Vic & Marylin Kerlin, and our good buddies Bud & Betty Fish. Terry & Marilyn Penn came up for a day. Larry took us on an interesting tour of the Brookville Lake Dam and Reservoir, the State Park and surrounding area. We also went to White's Flea Market in Brookville and Tamra, a very unique town with lots to offer.A great time was had at the McCarren Farm where we ate a delicious lunch and fished. Rita took some of us antique shopping while John took some others on a "four wheeling" tour of the property. We had some scrumptious pitch in meals and John popped some of the best popcorn we have ever had over the open camp fire.

Our Spring Rally will be in Southern Indiana near Cincinnati with John & Rita McCarren as wagon-masters and our Fall Rally will be in Peru with Vic & Maryln Kerlin as wagon-masters. The dates for both rallies are TBA.

Take care everyone, safe travels.

Nine units of the Fleetwood Travelcade Club, Kentucky Unit, gathered September 11-14, at the Kenton County Fairgrounds in Independence, Kentucky for the Fall Rally. In addition to great food, the hosts, Rita Moss, Lanny Williams, and George & Marty Dunn arranged for fascinating and enjoyable activities. Also welcomed were second time buddies, Del & Sally Rathert. We need to work on them to purchase a Fleetwood product and become full fledged members.

After checking in on Thursday afternoon, attendees enjoyed an afternoon of visiting and catching up on everyone’s news. The big news was the wonderful celebrations of 50 years of marriage celebrated by two couples, Thelma & Bob Gibson, and Marty & George Dunn. Although this writer was unable to attend the celebrations, word is that both were very nice. Coincidentally, they were married on the same day! It didn’t take long, although dinner was to be “on your own”, for the group to gather when dinner time approached and head to Golden Corral for a big feed.

Friday morning began with a scrumptious breakfast of biscuits and gravy and eggs along with goetta, a sausage-like meat and grain mixture, provided by Marty Dunn. After the business meeting, carpooling was arranged and the group headed into Cincinnati to tour the Cincinnati Museum. Two knowledgeable tour guides led us on an historical tour of the building, once home to a state of the arts railroad depot, especially active during World War II. The guides took us into many areas not usually seen by the public, and we were able to enjoy much of the elegant construction of the depot.

After a quick lunch, Rita & Lanny led us to Findlay Market, an open market area in the Cincinnati area. Few left without purchasing fresh produce or some of the many varieties of sausage sold by the sausage market there. Folks returned to the campground for a quick rest, then gathered to enjoy Lanny’s fried fish and pot luck supper. A campfire, card games and board games followed.

Saturday morning was a little more relaxed, but, once again, a lovely breakfast of pancakes, eggs and pastries was served. One needed to eat lightly because there were plans for a trip to Owenton, KY to the Kentucky Jamboree, featuring a sit down noon meal topped off by homemade lemon meringue pie and an entertaining show by the Robinson family. The remaining afternoon was spent relaxing and visiting before a soup and sandwich supper. Board, card games and prizes filled the evening.

Sunday morning breakfast was followed by devotions led by Tom Lovelace, who used the story of Joseph and the coat of many colors to show us how God always has a plan, and we need only trust Him during the bad times.

The group left just in time for most to return home before Hurricane Ike’s remnants arrived in its most violent way knocking out power and downing trees all around the area. Fortunately, all arrived home safely.

There is an old saying that “no news is good news.” And that is exactly how the Michigan Unit stands.

Everyone attending the July Rally in Lowell had a great time. Thanks to Ralph & Joannie Cooper. Every day was well planned. Those who didn’t go missed the time of their life.

Reminder the 2009 membership dues are due and should be sent to the new Unit Secretary/Treasurer who will be installed on September 23, 2008. She is Carolyn Wright. So please send the full amount of $40 to her at 2588 Woodland Dr., Hale, Michigan 48739. The amount of $40 is for both International and Unit dues. We’re going back to the old way.

This is my last newsletter; short and sweet. I enjoyed my time as Secretary/Treasurer for our Michigan Unit. I especially love our members who have been so kind, thoughtful and patient with me. And that is all of you.

See you at some outing.

This will be my last report for the MO Unit News. I am sure Betty Lewis will do a great job.

The Missouri unit held their Fall Rally at the Osceola R V Park in Osceola, MO Sept 10-14, 2008. The Knowltons and Myers hosted the rally with lots of help from all the members attending. Those attending were the Myers, Knowltons, Edgingtons, Rossi, Kureks, Baumhoeggers, Lewises, Blase, French, and Rameys. We had one guest from the Oklahoma Unit, the Penningtons. We are always happy to have guests from other units. The Roberts were also with us for one day. They have sold their RV and truck, but still join us. We were so glad to see them.

We all enjoyed the fun, games, fellowship, food and a tour to the goat farm where some of us bought goat soap and other natural hand made soaps made at the Evening Shade Farms. We also enjoyed a presentation from Brian and Jo Mohr who told us about The Kingdom Homestead and Cemetery where the Younger-Simpson families are buried. The Mohrs purchased the property about 4 years ago and after clearing some of the land they found grave stones of many of the Younger-Simpson ancestors of the area and are putting together a genealogy chart of them. The tours were led by Lila Foster, a native of Osceola. She would have taken us to see more but Hurricane "IKE" decided to get into our plans and dropped huge amounts of water on us that day.

Monthly Luncheons are the Second Wednesday of each month at 1PM at Home Town Buffet, 1282 Old Orchard Center, Manchester MO so please mark your calendars:

The Missouri Unit Christmas Party will be December 3, 2008 from 11:30-3:00 at Zeno's Restaurant, Exit 184 off I-44, 1621 Martin Spring Dr., Rolla, MO. Please contact Bob or Betty Lewis by November 20, 2008 and let them know if you will be attending. Their address is 1155 Caulks Hill Road, St. Charles, MO 63304 or phone (636) 447-4302 or e-mail rlewis@mail.win.org.

Hope you all have a wonderful fall and a safe trip to the San Antonio Rendezvous.

There’s not much news from North Carolina this month. Due to time restrictions, it was decided to join with South Carolina and Georgia for our Fall Rally. The Rally will be in Elberton, Georgia September 23-26. The Stumps, Lamms, Easts, and Franks plan to attend. Louise Safrit also plans to join us. Following the Rally Ron & I will be starting to Texas for the Fall Rendezvous in San Antonio. I’m sure we will see Ginny & Charlie McPherren there. I don’t know of any other NC members who plan to attend. Memberships are coming in slow. This year dues are to be sent to the Unit Secretary. You should have received an invoice from Dan Gilmore. If didn’t receive this by email or letter, please let me know. Hope everyone has had a nice summer.

Greetings from Beautiful Ohio.

The sun is shining. The air is crisp and everyone has a spring in their step. The Fall Rendezvous is coming up; Oct 5-12, 2008 in San Antonio, Texas. It should be a great time for all attending; hope to see you all there!

Our Ohio Spring 2009 Buddy Rally is going to be in Southwestern Ohio in May. Keep that date open as it will prove to be a great time for all attending.

The Silver Fellowship Rally was held in Elkhart, Indiana. The Ohio unit was represented by Don & June Grable, Ron & Louise Gossard, Sam & Julia Lucas, and Dick & Shelia Bockmore. They had a fun filled good time.

The North-Central Roundup was held in Elkhart, Indiana and also was represented by the following Ohio representatives: Ron & Louise Gossard, Don & June Grable, Cal & Lee Brehm, and Sam & Julia Lucas. They all reported having a wonderful time.

Fall rally time is around the corner and the weather is making it feel a lot more like fall. The Oklahoma Fleetwood Fall Buddy Rally is September 14-17 at Greenleaf State Park at Braggs, Oklahoma and, although our membership is small, it sounds as though most of them will be there. Rain is forecasted as a result of Hurricane Ike, so let’s hope that this hurricane is a miss and not a hit for everyone effected.

It sounds as though Bill & Nellie Pennington have been enjoying Nellie's retirement by getting to spend more time on the road. I know they made a trip to Grand Canyon earlier and we're anxious to hear about their trip.

Ebb & I had a wonderful time on our trip to Rome and the Mediterranean cruise. Rome is a very large and busy city and we had plenty to see and do the six days we were there. The cruise was a wonderful experience and gave us the opportunity to see countries I didn't think I'd ever see. Traveling through this area reminds us how young our country is.

Jerry & Shelby Brown traveled to the Northwest this summer and saw the breathtaking sights of Glacier National Park. They said Glacier was on their to-do list for several years and it was well worth the wait.

Fleetwood Travelcade Club dues of $35.00 and Oklahoma dues of $5.00 are now due and can be sent to me, Ginny Cox, 3923 East 32nd Street, Tulsa, OK 74135-1635.

See you at the Rally!

I am writing this from our Oregon Fall Rally. We have gathered at the Hee Hee Illahee RV Park in Salem, Oregon. There are 15 couples in their RV's, 5 more members are lodged in the hotel next door and 3 couples are driving in from their homes.

We had a great day of golf with 9 of us hitting the beautiful course nearby. We have had a lunch cruise on the Willamette River and visited the Riverfront Carousel. We all got to have a ride on this. Most of us had not done that since we were children and it was fun.

We have visited the Oregon Gardens and we recommend this to anyone in this area. It is beautiful and of course it is different with the season change.

Tomorrow we are to go to the Oregon Grape Stomp Celebration and 8 of our people are signed up to do some stomping.

We are looking forward to our Christmas Party which will be held with the WA Unit at Polynesian Resort in Ocean Shores, WA. Our dates are December 4-6, 2008. If you can attend call them and make your reservations. Their phone number is 800-562-4836 or call me and I will get you all the information on our plans there.

We hope any of our members, buddies and friends will remember that we have a lunch here in Salem on the first Wednesday of the month at 11:30 AM at Schroaders Guest House. Call me if you need directions.

For all you folks that are celebrating a Birthday or Anniversary this month, we send our congratulations.

Until next time, Fleetwood hugs to each of you.

The Rocky Mountain Unit sends greetings to everyone as autumn is settling in; actually it arrived here in mid August as we've had night time temps into the 30s and day time temps only into the 50s. That is unusually cool for late August and early September. Can winter be far behind? Our thoughts and prayers are with our Fleetwood family members who are having problems with all the hurricanes this year.

Now for our news: Joyce Connor with her driver Clarence are again spending time in Lubbock, TX while Joyce has more tests. This has been a long siege for Joyce and we all wish her our best. Bob & Helen Freer have been camping and fishing in CO. Bob has been catching a good number of rainbow trout.

Knute & Joan Cotton had a great trip back from the RM Unit Rolling Rally, especially enjoying their stay at the Grand Canyon. Now they have completed the remodeling of their "new to them" Avion silver trailer and are planning a shakedown camping trip to try it out. They also are continuing with their monthly camping trips with their other camping club. They plan to be at the Fall Rendezvous in TX. Tom Roberts is feeling well and is planning a trip to Branson, MO with his family. Bob & Clara Lee are currently in China. They are showing their children and grand children the villages where Clara & Bob's parents grew up. What a wonderful way to have a family reunion.

Harry Peterson has been catching good sized rainbow and brown trout in the Missouri River in MT with his brothers and now is helping his older brother built a garage. Betty stays busy caring for her 97 year old mother in her retirement home. They are finding time to enjoy outings with their childhood friends in MT while celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. The family will gather at Thanksgiving time to continue the celebration.

We hope you enjoy the cooler weather coming your way, and may God be with you all.

As this news is being written, we are preparing for our Fall Rally in Elberton, GA, again this year. We are combing our SC Rally with GA & NC. We're hoping for a good turn-out as there are plenty of parking spaces and we have a building in which to meet for breakfast, dinner and other meetings. We've heard from 10 of our members but unfortunately several of them are committed to other things that week-end. Jim & Billie Barton will be with us for several days but must leave early to attend another function. Gene & Pam Brannock can't make it but we recognize they are still among the working force so are unable to attend many functions. Dan & Anne Fletcher will be in St. Louis at another rally and are sorry they'll miss us. Vernon & Paulette Greene will be having family visiting at that but were sorry to miss. Sonny & Dawn Hallman won't be there but they told us at the '07 Holiday Luncheon they are still involved with the working force. (So sorry for all those who still have to do that nasty four letter word; WORK!) John Melton called last week to say he & Johnnie would be coming in for our business meeting but would be staying in a motel as he has his Avion up for sale. Herman & Marlene Murray are very much looking forward to being with the group. They were able to be with last year at our rally, had planned to be at the Spring Rally but, due to Marlene's daughter's health, they felt that she needed them more than we did; and rightfully so. Sandy & Maryann Lempert said they'd love to join us but since it's “Parents Week-end” at Clemson their son wanted them to be with him. Claire & Kathy Stewart are off on another of their journeys. They were going to Bowling Green, OH for Claire's class reunion, then to Columbus to visit son, Jim & family. The Stewart family reunion follows that in western PA so they won't be back in time and they still don't have an RV. However, we do see them from time to time to catch up on their happenings. Ron Taylor writes: “Murphy's Law! He & Bobbie are committed to a great nephew's 1st birthday in NC. Bobbie's sister, from OH, is meeting them there so it will be like a “mini family reunion.

Except for Harry & me, we don't know about the rest of our unit members. We finally finished up our 2 month stint as “Camp Hosts” at Lake Powhatan in the Pisgah Forest (Asheville, NC) on Labor Day and returned home 9/2. Grass needed to be mowed and things needed to be cleaned up all around, although we did come home a couple of times for doctor, etc. We were only about 75 miles away so it wasn't hard to do.

We know of several associates from NC who will attend but they have to be counted with their Unit (we can't count them twice – but that would up our numbers). It will be good to see everyone again and we're hoping quite a few are planning on making the trip to San Antonio for the Fall Rendezvous.

We realize it may be a little early, but mark your calendars for our “Holiday Luncheon” in Columbia, on December 6th. We usually select the 1st week-end as most people haven't gotten started on their parties that early. Notices will be mailed out closer to time with further details

DUES NOTICES have been sent out and should have been received by this time. If you are attending the rally, I'll collect your dues at that time. If you are not attending the rally, please send your check for $40. ($35 for International and $5 for Unit dues) to me as soon as possible so that we can get the information ready for next year's directory. If there are any changes in address, phone, e-mail or whatever, please be sure to give that to me, also. Our Address is: 100 Lakeforest Dr., Greer, SC 29651.

Until next time. DRIVE SAFELY!!

Thelma Morris had her 80th birthday on September 11, 2008. Thelma & Ollin Morris are having there 60th anniversary on October 2, 208. The Virginia Unit would like to congratulate them. They are planning a Caribbean cruise to celebrate.

Louise & Marshall Mauck's 55 year old son Marshall Jr. (Butch) that had a stroke on March 11, 2008 is just starting to walk some with help. It has been a long 6 months for us. We have been in the Northern Virginia area more this summer than we have been home. With Louise's help, I have been making his house handicap accessible. We built a 16 foot by 42" ramp for his wheel chair. We tore out and replaced the bathroom floor, replaced vanity & sink, installed handicap rails in bathroom, installing a larger bath room door and opening it to the hall way, along with other things. Now we are replacing a bedroom door and opening it into the hall. Replacing the front side walk and front steps are in future plans.

Louise has also been helping our daughter make dresses for her daughter, our granddaughter's wedding September 20, 2008, in Northern VA.

Louise & Marshall celebrated their 57 years of marriage on September 7, 2008. Louise will be 77 on September 18, 2008. We both thank our heavenly father that we can still do things for our children like we have been able to do this summer. When Butch thanked me last weekend for some thing that I was doing for him, it really made me feel good that I am still able to be there to help meet his needs. His appreciation makes me look for other things to do for him.

Our second son Frank invited me to go along on a one day fishing trip out in the Chesapeake Bay in July that he set up for the people that work under him. What a tired relaxing day. We left the dock at 8:00 A.M. and by 10:00 A.M., we had our catch of Rock fish. A total of 16. We also caught a few Blues. We came back to the dock at around 2:00 P.M. Nothing like going home and having fresh Rock fish to eat.

I am a little late with this, but with the busy summer that we have had, I hope every one understands. At the Winter Rendezvous, in Columbia, Missouri, one of our Virginia members, Len Good, accepted the position of the Mid States East Region International Governor. We thank and congratulate Len for taking on this position.

By the time you read this the Washington Fall Rally will be but a memory but right now as I type this it is keeping me busy. We will have a wonderful time I am sure.

We were honored with the presence of two First Timers, Dennis & Sally Noble and Scott & Cassie Schwittler. We sincerely hope we will see more of them in the future.

Al & Del Caskey were sworn in as the new Unit President and Secretary. Eileen Lamar continues to be our treasurer.

The club took this opportunity to say a special thank you to Tom & Marnie Opstad for all of the devotion and hard work they have given to theTravelcade Clubs, both Avion and Fleetwood.

Also the mail outs for the combined Washington and Oregon Christmas party have been delivered and we are hoping that many are going to be able to join us. That is always such a fun weekend.

I am happy to report that there are no major health problems and that those who were ill are recovering nicely and for that we are thankful.

Following are two sets of news sent to me.

From Ray & Marlise Hanson( 8/21/08)

“Marlise & I joined a group of others from OR and Yuma at the summer beach cabin of Joyce & Russ Brower this last week. We stayed in Pacific City on the Oregon coast in our trailer and joined the others at the cabin for all the activity. There were the Bowmans, Bancrofts, Vorraths, Christensons, Edwards, Foxes, Paul & Paula Braun, and ourselves.

We enjoyed cracked crab, oysters from the barbecue and more food than any one could eat. At the Tillamook National Forest Centre , for lunch we had a six foot long subway sandwich.

A good time was had.”

From Linda Willey(8/19/08)

“Howdy to you!! The head count at today's luncheon came in at 10 smiling faces: Barney & Jeanne Klinger, Jim & Fran Reed, Ray & Marlise Hanson, Les & Linda Willey, Lois Burns, and Dick Heaton. Good times, past and future, were discussed with shared enthusiasm and anticipation. Jeanne Klinger mentioned that they don't know yet whether they will be able to attend the Lacey Rally next month due to her dental work schedule.

We are hoping that our trailer will be back from the repair shop in time for the Lacey Rally! It has a problem with its brakes. Way above my head, but it's been at the RV repair place for almost a month now and it's still not fixed. Very worrisome.”

When you read this it will be close to Canadian Thanksgiving and we want to take this time to wish a Happy Thanksgiving to all of our Canadian members.

Enjoy the weather; I just love the fall don't you??
